Robert Bolick back in NorthPort’s roster after signing a conference-long contract and will play against the Ginebra Kings on Friday.

The NorthPort Batang Pier will be welcoming the much-needed addition of Robert Bolick back in their line-up after agreeing on a short-term deal that will activate their starting guard just in time for their game against Barangay Ginebra tomorrow in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Bolick’s time with NorthPort was a big question mark to start the conference as his previous contract had expired in January and reports of signing with an overseas club, notably in Taiwan, had been surfacing.

However, newly appointed team manager Pido Jarencio confirmed that Bolick is back for the rest of the 47th season, reported Spin.ph.

“Okay na ‘yung extension at nagpa-practice na siya. Maglalaro na siya,” said Jarencio.

Interim NorthPort coach Bonnie Tan also took time to clarify the issues that led to the delay of reaching the final terms of an extended contract for the San Beda University product.

"Nasa option ng team yun na i-extend siya (Bolick), eh kasi may nababasa ako eh para lang maging accurate, may kontrata pa naman si Robert, in-extend lang, till the end of conference," Tan told the Manila Times yesterday.

The ace guard will surely make an instant impact in the short conference and a very tight roster of the Batang Pier who is also missing the service of Arwind Santos due to injury.

Aside from Bolick’s return, another welcome addition to the team is former San Miguel Beer import Kevin Murphy who has already arrived in the country and will replace Marcus Weathers.

NorthPort is hoping that Bolick’s averages of 21 points, 6.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, paired with Murphy’s averages of 28 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists, fresh from his stint with Kuwait Squad Kazma in the 2022-23 West Asia Super League will immediately impact the squad to eventually climb up the standings.
