As local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) continue to rise, backed by strong local initiatives and public support, Northern Samar is steadily shaping itself into a hotbed of innovation and grassroots enterprise.
A festive buzz filled the air at Gaisano Grand Mall as Northern Samar’s homegrown entrepreneurs proudly opened their booths for the 2nd Provincial MSME Week Trade Fair 2025, launched on July 11 by the Department of Trade and Industry – Northern Samar (DTI-NSPO).
With the theme “Innovate to Elevate: Empowering MSMEs for Sustainable Growth,” the four-day fair is more than just a showcase of products—it’s a vibrant celebration of creativity, resilience, and economic hope.
From handcrafted woven goods and eco-friendly home essentials to mouthwatering delicacies like local kakanin, sauces, and snacks, 62 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) transformed the mall’s activity center into a lively marketplace bursting with color, culture, and commerce.
This year’s fair is particularly special with the participation of 13 new MSMEs recently brought under DTI’s support programs. These fresh faces represent the emerging wave of entrepreneurs rising from the province’s grassroots.
Stakeholders says they see a lot of potential and with the right support, these businesses can grow beyond the borders of Northern Samar and even outside of the region.
PEDIPO is spearheading further assessments to tailor-fit interventions—such as funding access, digital marketing tools, and business mentoring—to strengthen these enterprises. The office also reaffirmed its mission to make economic development inclusive and sustainable by helping MSMEs compete in larger markets.
More than just a sales event, the fair serves as a collaborative platform where ideas are exchanged, partnerships are born, and local pride is amplified. Visitors mingle with entrepreneurs, sample proudly Nortehanon creations, and learn the stories behind each enterprise.
“It’s exciting to see this many local brands in one place,” said Trisha, a local mallgoer. “There’s talent here that deserves national attention.”
Running until July 14, the trade fair welcomes everyone to experience the best of Northern Samar’s entrepreneurial spirit. Every purchase made supports not just a business—but a family, a dream, and a resilient community.
