After its momentous screening at the Cannes Classics of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival, NV Productions’ “Bona” will have its own life in the whole of Asia.

The restored copy of the film is soon to hit Asian screens.

“Alam mo ba na ang Asian rights ng pelikula ay sa atin (Didn’t you know that we own the screening rights of the film in Asia?),” Nora informed this writer recently.

The award-winning film which stars Aunor has been enhanced to 4K restoration by Carlotta Films and Kani Releasing through the initiative of University of Urbana-Champaign Professor Jose B. Capino

The Lino Brocka-directed opus still earned critical acclaim when it was shown at the recently concluded 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

According to Ate (a term of endearment to an elder woman or sister by blood or affinity) Guy, she has the rights as producer to show “Bona” in all Asian territories.

The Brocka masterpiece has also garnered box-office results when screened in some overseas cinemas.

La Aunor said that there are already people who are helping in the distribution of the film.

“Bona” is set to hit French cinemas in September and US and Canada’s movie houses during the last quarter of the year.
