FORMER Vice President Noli De Castro today (October 13, 2021) has announced his withdrawal from the senatorial race.
De Castro was supposed to be running under the banner of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s Aksyon Demokratiko party, but his sudden departure has sent shockwaves throughout the country’s political spectrum.
As it is, more questions were raised that also suddenly unraveled Moreno’s otherwise smooth-sailing political campaign.
Also, De Castro’s decision meant one less sure winner for senator, upping the chances of new entrants like Malacanang Chief Legal Counsel Atty. Sal Panelo.
While De Castro’s withdrawal created hope for many other aspirants in the senatorial race, it also reinforced suspicions that the camp of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is in hopeless confusion at best, or fast disintegrating, at worse.
Noli, the very popular media personality who became vice president after three years in the Senate was in the line-up of Isko more popularly known as Yorme.
As a result of Noli’s decision, Yorme, riding on the high waves of social media hype, apparently got exposed as Bong Go lackey.
This speculation caught public attention after Moreno’s media consultant resigned and an alleged political operator of the senator, Lito Banayo, joined the camp of Moreno.
The resignation of Moreno’s media strategist, Malou Tiquia, was followed by a resignation effective end of September of the mayor’s chief of staff, Cesar Chavez who was quoted to have said he was returning to do full time work as DZRH top man.
Some other top officials of Manila city hall who were with Moreno for years are also allegedly being eased out by the new group of political operators coming from the house of Bong Go.
Why Bong Go is behind Isko Moreno is another story to tell.
