Sports newscaster and former PBA Commissioner Noli Eala is the new PSC Chairman under President Marcos Jr.’s administration.

Former Philippine Basketball Association commissioner Noli Eala is the newly- appointed Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman under the Marcos administration as announced on August 30.

Armed with an executive letter from Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez on Eala’s appointment he formally replaces William 'Butch' Ramirez, who quit his post last June.

“President Marcos has continuously recognized sports victories early in his term, a testament to his commitment to sports,” said Malacanang in a statement.

Known as “Kom Noli” in the sports industry, Eala became a household name by being a PBA play-by-play commentator starting in 1992.

He then held the post of the 6th Commissioner of the PBA from 2003 to 2007, before serving as the founding executive director of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and helped develop the very first Gilas program with Serbian coach Rajko Toroman in the late 2000s.

Eala has been working as a sports broadcaster for the weekly program “Power and Play” on TV5 prior to being named as PSC chairman.

“I’m blessed, grateful, honored and excited to begin work. Time to serve. Lets get to work,” tweeted Eala, who is set to be the 11th PSC Chairman since 1990.
“I’ll begin with an informal meeting with PSC officials and from there we’ll begin work,” Eala added.

Eala will be joining bowling legend Bong Coo who was recently appointed as PSC commissioner early this month, with three more commissioners yet to be named.

Aside from his venture in the sports industry, Ealais also senior vice president for corporate affairs of ride-sharing app JoyRide and also became the sports director of the San Miguel Corporation, handling the operations of corporate teams in the PBA such as San Miguel, Ginebra, and B-Meg/Purefoods.
