TACLOBAN CITY — The organizers of the highly anticipated Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals 2025 have announced that the festival competition will be postponed to next year. The decision comes after only three contingents confirmed their participation, citing the recent national and local elections as a significant factor affecting local engagement.

In an official statement, the festival’s management explained that the limited number of confirmed contingents made it unlikely to hold the event this year.

“With fewer contingents confirmed, postponing is the right choice to keep the heart and soul of the festival vibrant and true,” they said.

The festival, renowned as the largest and most magnificent celebration in Leyte, traditionally features a vibrant competition among various contingents representing different towns and festivals. However, due to the recent elections and other logistical considerations, many groups were unable to confirm their participation this year.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to supporters, performers, and partner communities for their ongoing support and understanding. They emphasized that the extra time will allow for deeper community collaboration, better preparation, and an even more spectacular celebration in 2026.

“This extra time will allow us to regroup, collaborate more deeply with our communities, and prepare for a comeback that’s bigger, brighter, and more inclusive than ever before,” the statement added.

Despite the setback, the festival’s recent winners, including the Buyugan Festival of Abuyog, Buraburun Festival of Burauen, Lingganay Festival of Alangalang, and Pasaka Festival of Tanauan, have brought pride to Leyte and have gained recognition in national festival competitions such as Aliwan and Sinulog.

The postponement, while disappointing, is seen as a strategic move to ensure the festival’s quality and cultural significance are preserved. The organizers assured the community that the Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival will return in 2026 with renewed energy and grandeur.

As the Leyteños eagerly await next year’s festivities, they remain proud of their rich cultural heritage and look forward to celebrating together in 2026 with even more enthusiasm and unity.
