Music mentor Michelle Junia, also known in the arts and culture scene as Nikki Junia, is now the new ad interim president of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

Nikki was voted president in an election by the Board of Trustees on August 16, 2023.

Nikki, an early childhood educator and a singer in her own right, has replaced 1973 Miss Universe Margarita Moran-Floirendo who now sits with Atty. Lorna Kapunan as ad co-vice-chairperson.

Even when she wasn’t elected yet as prexy of the state arts and culture agency, Nikki has always been committed to the enhancement of culture and arts in the country.

Nikki was the immediate vice-chair of the Board of Trustees of the CCP.

She was one of the brains behind “Kanto Kultura,” an annual music festival and a banner project of the Center that aims to promote and honor not only indigenous but common folks’ musicality and artistry among Filipinos. According to her, “Kanto Kultura” will continue to serve its purpose during her term by encouraging the creation of original, artistic works.

Before her election as president, Nikki was also the head of the Center’s Committee on Artistic Matters.

As the new head of CCP, Nikki envisions as indicated in her official statement “a unique position to see the greater heights that can be achieved even further.”
