MORONG, Rizal –Families occupying units of a government housing project for the last seven years may soon bid farewell to the place they thought were theirs.
According to resident Adelman Orendain Fajardo, they were issued notice to vacate the awarded units of a National Housing Authority-funded housing project in Sitio Talaga in Barangay Maybancal, by individuals claiming to be connected with the NHA.
Fajardo finds it rather unusual for the NHA office in Antipolo City to bump off their names in the list of beneficiaries, for which an NHA employee who requested anonymity replied – “Kailangan po ng endorsement from the local government. Ang LGU po ang nasa best position to identify the beneficiaries of the government housing program.”
However, Fajardo believes otherwise. “Parang may sindikato ng ilang tauhan ng NHA.”
According to her, they tried seeking help from Morong Mayor Sidney Soriano, whom they claimed “did not bother to see them,” even as Fajardo insisted that they have long been endorsed by the local government during the term of the late former Mayor Armando San Juan.
Fajardo also accused Soriano of endorsing a new set of beneficiaries covering the same housing project.
OpinYon Rizal tried to reach out to Mayor Soriano via his social media account but has yet to respond as of this writing.
