Electricity consumers, brace for higher electricity charges on your next bill.
This, after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will increase its transmission charges by up to 13 centavos per kilowatt hour (kWh) starting August.
This translates to a P26 increase for the average consumer who uses 200 kWh of electricity per month.
In a statement, Atty. Cynthia Perez-Albanza, NCGP Assistant Vice President and Public Relations head, explained that the rate reset follows a ruling by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) of an under-recovery, which will be implemented for 84 months, or until June 2032.
The ERC earlier approved an under-recovery fixed rate of Php 0.0384/kWh to be implemented until the UR amount of P28 billion has been fully collected.
From P0.4611/kWh during its June 2025 billing period, NGCP said its transmission rates rose to P0.5923/kWh.
Meanwhile, Ancilliary Services Rates went down from P0.6182/kWh in June to P0.5872/kWh in July or a decrease of P0.0310/kWh.
Overall average Transmission Rates increased by 9.25 percent or P1.3233/kWh from P.2113/kWh in June.
Meralco had earlier announced its own rates will increase by P0.6268/kWh this August due to higher generation and transmission charges, or an additional P125 for consumers with monthly usage of around 200 kWh.
