It was apparently not a public agony that filmmaker and former chronicler of exclusive stories on Abu Sayyaf Arlyn de la Cruz had showed in the six years of her cancer stricken life but a lively everyday existence like religiously going around in bikes or showing off her cheerful activities in social media or meeting with creative crew on film projects.

Yesterday, though, Arlyn couldn’t resist the pain she was going through.

De la Cruz finally succumbed to death.

In her demise, loved ones Katrina Greta and Dominique penned a cyber eulogy for their dearly departed mom.

“…Our mother passed away after six years of battling colon cancer.

“During those years, she has produced, written and directed several films, had two art exhibits and continued her relentless pursuit for the truth.

“The disease did not conquer her zest for life and adventure; and she approached every new day armed with her razor-sharp wit and creativity,” wrote the daughters who thanked everyone who sent thoughts and prayers.

Arlyn’s remains lie at Malasimbu Memorial Homes in San Ramon National Highway in Dinalupihan, Bataan and opened for public viewing at 3 pm today.

The filmmaker’s family requested everyone who wishes to pay their last respects to wear face masks and observe physical distancing.

De la Cruz will be laid to rest at Dinalupihan Memorial Park on Thursday, December 24, 2021.
