Over 160,000 passengers are set to benefit from the Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX) when it opens in 2028, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

After a seven-year delay due to the pandemic and right-of-way challenges, the DOTr led the terminal’s groundbreaking ceremony this Monday, February 3.

Awarded to Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) as a public-private partnership project, the TCITX is expected to be completed by 2027 and fully operational by next year.

The ₱5.2-billion terminal will accommodate 160,000 passengers and 5,200 vehicles daily.

It will also feature a walkway connecting to the North-South Commuter Railway and Metro Manila Subway.

“This project will help decongest major roads and ensure a smoother journey for commuters,” Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said.

TCITX will be built on the former Food Terminal Inc. site, a state-owned property sold to ALI in 2012.

"Designed as the gateway from the south, TCITX will handle 5,200 vehicles, including provincial buses from Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon, alongside city buses and public utility vehicles," said ALI President and CEO Anna Maria Margarita Dy.

Additionally, officials signed a right-of-way agreement for the 32.7-kilometer Southeast Metro Manila Expressway, which will stretch from Parañaque to the Batasan Complex in Quezon City.

Signatories included the DOTr, Department of National Defense, Veterans Foundation of the Philippines, Toll Regulatory Board, and San Miguel Corp.
