The Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital ((ESPH)) is about to get a major upgrade.
Php 70 million has been committed to the construction of a new Medical Arts Building in the said provincial hospital.
The three-story building, featuring a rooftop, will be completed within 150 calendar days.
The ground floor will house an outpatient department, two pediatric rooms, staff quarters, and a visitors' lounge.
The project is funded by an initial Php 20 million allocation and an additional Php 50 million pledged by Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. during the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, September 19.
"I will give Php 50 million more for this building so that it can be completed and our fellow citizens here in Eastern Samar can benefit from it," Sen. Revilla stated during the event.
The funding was requested by Governor Ben P. Evardone, who has prioritized healthcare improvements during his administration.
Sen. Revilla also highlighted several new initiatives that will directly benefit senior citizens, educators, students, and the general public.
Sen. Revilla urged seniors to register with the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) to avail themselves of the benefits of the Extended Centenarian Law (RA 11982) which will provide a Php 10,000 grant to individuals aged 80, 85, and 95 starting next year.
Educators will benefit from the newly signed Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act (RA 11997), which doubles the teaching allowance from Php 5,000 to Php 10,000.
Sen. Revilla also highlighted other recent legislation, including RA 11984, which prohibits the "no permit, no exam" policy in schools, and RA 11909, which eliminates the expiration of birth, death, and marriage certificates.
He further advocated for a bill to lower the optional retirement age for government employees from 60 to 56.
However, some netizens have expressed skepticism about the senator’s motives. One comment on social media read, “Iba talaga kapag mag-eeleksyon, magpauto na naman po tayo.”
