After a string of typhoons that affected thousands of residents of Northern Samar, the provincial government is betting on its new Christmas attraction to lift up the morale of its constituents, in time for the holidays.

Recently, the Northern Samar LGU opened in its provincial capitol grounds in Catarman the "Karibhungan sa Pasko" display, featuring a giant Christmas tree, a magical light tunnel, and creatively designed booths featuring 14 top destination countries around the world.

The exhibit was initially opened last October 25, but was forced to close due to the recent storms that hit the province, most notably "Kristine" last October and "Pepito" this month.

“Indeed, the spirit of Christmas is alive in Northern Samar, where the government and the private sector, in an inspiring display of unity, positivity, and charity, come together to create a delightful show for the people of Northern Samar,”Jhon Allen Berbon, Northern Samar’s provincial economic development and investment promotions office head, told media.

The local official added that the display marks community volunteerism, unity, cooperation, and public service as various government agencies and non-government organizations come together and put in their creativity, talent, and time to create a festive atmosphere.

The provincial government thanked private groups and individuals who brought to life crowd-favorite characters and destinations – Hong Kong’s Disneyland, USA, Hollywood, Europe, Japan, and Antarctica.

The local government launched the Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024 to give residents and visitors a chance to feel the warmth of the holidays and experience the magic of Christmas from around the world.
