Atty. Matthew David replaces Atty. Mel Georgie Racela as the New AMLC Secretariat Executive Director.

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) appointed Attorney Matthew M. David as the AMLC Secretariat's new executive director on August 18, 2022.

The AMLC is authorized to establish a secretariat under Section 8 of Republic Act No. 9160, also known as the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2001, as amended. The Executive Director will be appointed by the Council for a position that will last for five (5) years. T

David replaces Atty. Mel Georgie B. Racela, whose term ended on August 17, 2022,.

At the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Executive Director David previously held the positions of Deputy Director of the Office of the General Counsel and Legal Services and Director of the AMLC Secretariat's Investigation and Enforcement Department. He also taught legal education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help University and Arellano University.

He received his Master of Laws in Finance from the Goethe-Frankfurt University's Institute for Law and Finance in Germany. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
