Food terminal market will be open to lessees of Negros Occidental to provide additional revenues for the province.

Anticipating a small budget for 2023, the provincial government of Negros Occidental opened its economic enterprise facilities, especially the food terminal market in North Capitol Road, to increase revenue.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said on Wednesday, the Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD) was set to sign contracts with the lessees, PNA reported.

He stated that “this is the challenge given to us by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson,”

On Tuesday, Lacson declared that he wants to open the Negros Occidental Food Terminal Market because it would bring in more money for the region.

The 2019 coronavirus pandemic will cause revenue agencies to collect less income, which will result in a reduction in the national tax allocation for local government units the following year.

Lacson stated, a smaller budget would also demand changes in the financial aid the province provides to its different sectors.

At the food terminal market, the EEDD has given lease contracts for 55 stalls, four of which are kitchens. These stalls will be turned over on August 8.

The two-story, P114.6 million structure also includes a variety of conference and function spaces for both small and big events.

The Mambukal Resort, Wildlife Sanctuary, and Negros First Cyber Centre are a few further businesses that are owned by the province government, along with the hostel Negros Residences.
