NBI filed several charges against a fake NBI agent who figured in a road rage that was caught in a viral video.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed several charges against the man who claimed to be one of its agents after an armed confrontation with another motorist
In a statement last Tuesday night, the NBI said charges of usurpation of authority, grave coercion, and violation of the election gun ban were filed against the fake agent before the Department of Justice.
The fake agent was identified as Ramil Bunagan Diez who was caught in a viral video pointing a gun at a motorist while threatening him during a traffic altercation in Meycauayan City, Bulacan on May 8.
While the suspect is a registered owner of 10 firearms, records from the Philippine National Police’s Firearms and Explosive Office have shown that he has not been issued a permit to carry any type of firearm outside his residence. The NBI’s Personnel Division has also established that Diez is not an employee of their department.
Upon verification with COMELEC, the bureau’s Anti-Graft Division also discovered that Diez did not apply and was not granted an exemption to use firearms during the election gun ban which was in effect from January 9 to June 8 this year.
