For most people, langka and coconut leaves are simply part of the Philippine landscape.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that they aren’t “useful,” as coconut leaves are used everywhere from traditional “bahay-kubo” roofs to palms that are used every Lenten season.
But for Biñanense leaf artist MM Dacanay, these leaves have become the perfect canvas to pay tribute to P-Pop powerhouse SB19, whose global profile continues to soar ahead of their historic appearance at Lollapalooza 2026.
The group is set to become the first Filipino act to perform at one of the world's biggest music festivals, marking another milestone for P-Pop on the international stage.
Using carefully selected langka leaves for the individual portraits and a massive coconut leaf for a larger group artwork, Dacanay transformed ordinary plant materials into intricate pieces featuring Pablo, Stell, Ken, Josh, and Justin.
The artist skillfully carved each member's likeness onto the leaves, preserving even the smallest facial details while working around the natural veins and texture of the foliage.
The result: a collection that blends Filipino craftsmanship with the country's thriving P-Pop culture.
The centerpiece of the project is an oversized coconut leaf bearing minimalist portraits of all five SB19 members, while separate langka leaves showcase detailed individual renditions of each artist.
Dacanay's creations have drawn admiration online, with many praising not only the accuracy of the portraits but also the creativity of using natural leaves as an artistic medium.
As SB19 prepares to take the stage at Lollapalooza 2026 in Chicago—a historic first for a Filipino act—the tribute serves as another testament to the group's far-reaching influence, inspiring artists to celebrate their journey in uniquely Filipino ways.
