The National Museum in Manila is once again opening its doors to the public, subject to strict health protocols and limitations brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
On Saturday (June 19), the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) reopened the NMP Complex in Rizal Park, Manila to the public, in time for the 160th birth anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
In line with the reclassification of industries allowed to operate under the general community quarantine, the museum is open with restricted capacity.
Only guests who are 15 years old or above will be allowed; proof of age will be required upon entry.
Senior Citizens will be allowed entry given they present their two-dose vaccination record.
Only 100 visitors will be allowed for each building per session.
Sessions are scheduled from 9 :00 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors will have to download the StaySafePh app as their health declaration form upon entry.
Group reservations are also limited to five persons. No walk-ins will be allowed.
Prior to opening, the NMP launched free webinars, weekly features, and 3D mapped virtual tours of some of its galleries and exhibits.
The NMP recently wrapped up its Museum Week 2021 last June 7 to 13 in part of the National Heritage Month with the theme, “Creativity.”
Their upcoming virtual exhibit launch follows the “Evolution of Botanical Illustrations” happening this June 25, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom.
The exhibition will feature the works of selected Filipino botanical illustrators from the 18th century up to the present time.
