After being named as one of the Diamond Jubilarians in the celebration of the University of the Philippines General Alumni Association UPGAA this year, National Artist for Music Ramon Santos will again shoulder a gargantuan responsibility to emulate a respected and outstanding living hero in the arts.
NA Santos will deliver a keynote speech at the opening of the very first Palawan International Choral Festival (PICF) in Puerto Princesa City on August 13, 2025.
"It will be a very momentous event as a national treasure will impart an important and inspirational message to the contestants and performers of the very first choral festival to be held in the tourist destination of the country," said Robert Delgado, President of the National Association of Filipino Choirs, Inc., a national organization of all choral groups in the Philippines.
"Dr. Ramon Santos will be written in the history of choral groups competition in the country as a pioneering leader in the formation and implementation of choirs' contest in our contemporary times," added Delgado, an esteemed musical director and conductor.
"I never left UP College of Music's stone unturned without Mr. Santos agreeing with me to deliver the most distinguished speech in the presence of excellent singing groups to participate in the event," Robert gushed proudly.
Dr. Santos is one of the professors at the UP College of Music.
"Mr. Santos has been a very active and highly regarded music mentor at the College. I am one of the lucky students to have been educated under him," informed Delgado, a former member of the Philippine Madrigal Singers or simply, Madz.
The 2025 PICF will run from August 13 to 16, with Dr. Santos as one of the reliable speakers in the music conferences in the annual event.
