Mylene Dizon is back at Cinemalaya XX

It's like recreating the exciting and honorific moments during the launch of the film "100." It was the same event, the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. It was 2008 and actress Mylene Dizon was again being celebrated in a starring role about a woman who is terminally ill of cancer while she was given only one hundred days or so to live by her doctor.

What would she do in those remaining days of her life?

As a smart and brave woman, the reel persona in Mylene thought of how to spend the bucket list of to-do things before she passed on.

It was a remarkable performance that earned Dizon almost a grand slam award when she won the Balanghay Best Actress plum at the 2008 Cinemalaya.

The following year saw Mylene receiving Best Actress recognitions from several award-giving bodies like the Gawad Urian of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP), Academy Award of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP), Star Award of the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) and Golden Screen Award of the Entertainment Press Club (Enpress).

After sixteen years, Mylene is still active delineating various characters from the simple to the complex that make her one of the most sought after and decorared actresses in the country.

At the presscon of Cinemalaya 20 held at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, it was deja vu for Dizon.

The feeling of a dignified person as an actress was again felt by Mylene as ahe came up on stage to be presented as one of the cast members of the highly dramatic motion picture as "The Hearing."

There she was, the versatile performer who could give many prize-winning thespians a run for their acting money.

Mylene plays the compassionate guardian of a deaf boy which gave her the challenge to exhaust all possible creative air pipes in giving life to the depth of the character.

Director Lawrence Fajardo was proud of casting Dizon in his masterpiece.

"I am proud to present to you Mylene in another challenging role," said Lawrence in his introduction to the major stars in his film project.

Will Dizon snatch away another acting trophy for "The Hearing" to prove her durability as an actress?

Let us wait and see on August 2 to 11, 2024 when Cinemalaya opens in theaters of all Ayala Malls Manila Bay and other cinemas in Landmark, Glorietta, Circuit, among others.
