MLBB Philippines League and ChildHope Philippines team up to empower and help Manila’s underprivileged youth with inspirational seminars, cash, and in-kind donations.
THE Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Philippines League (MPL-PH) is teaming up with a non-government organization for children, ChildHope Philippines this season.
The collaboration hopes to help street children of Metro Manila rebuild their lives through cash donation and medical supplies for Covid-19 prevention.
"The universal crisis (Covid-19) has caused various setbacks to the livelihoods of many, driving poverty rates and threats to children's health. The youth represent our future, and we want to provide them with the resources to provide them a brighter horizon," said MPL Philippines Business Development Manager Matt Jaron.
MPL-PH is also organizing seminars and talks to inspire and educate the youth on esports and gaming related topics.
The possibility of a meet-and-greet with the pro players and talents is also being explored but could take a while given the current pandemic.
“Every child has the right to education. Every child has the right to play and enjoy their youth. Both rights are equally important to provide a holistic environment to raise a well-rounded individual, said Childhope Philippines Foundation Executive Director Dr. Herbert Q. Carpio.
According to MPL-PH, the partnership will extend to the league’s sponsors and partners as they make their individual donations.
Smart Communications, Inc. will be providing ChildHope beneficiaries with digital tools such as a laptop, tablets and portable WiFi through their School-in-a-Bag Program.
However, the tournament has recently been marred by controversies after several players and entire teams violated league rules and were issued fines, warnings, and suspensions.
MPL-PH Season 8 just recently concluded its regular season with Bren Esports and TNC failing to make the playoffs. The first games of the best-of-five playoffs will start this October 21.
