A Filipino Tiktok content creator who arrived from Madrid, Spain claimed that P200,000.00 worth of luxury items were stolen from his luggage. Airport authorities later extend apologies.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Friday has extended apologies to a Tiktok content creator who claimed his baggage was pilfered upon arrival in Manila.
The MIAA stated, "We extend our sincere apologies to Etihad passenger Ady Cotoco for his unpleasant experience upon arrival at NAIA Terminal 3 yesterday, September 8, when one of his baggage was discovered pilfered."
Cotoco who arrived from Madrid, Spain claimed that some P200,000 worth of luxury items consisted of branded shoes, bag, perfumes and clothing were gone.
He posted his resentment on Facebook that all items that were missing are all "pasalubong" (gifts) for his family. He claimed that after he retrieved his luggage from the baggage carousel of Terminal 3 it was unlock.
"I was really traumatized kasi (because) for the first time in 23 years that I have been travelling, first time siya nangyari sa akin (this is the first time my belongings was stolen). What if this happens to our fellow Filipinos na talagang pinaghirapan nila yung perang yun, binili nila for their loved ones and bigla na lang ninakaw ng ibang tao (What if this happens to our fellow Filipinos after working hard abroad to earn and buy things or souvenirs for their loved ones then suddenly someone else stole it)," Cotoco said on Facebook.
Airport authorities through the cooperation of the airline checked the validity of the incident through a review of NAIA terminal's footages.
Airport officials said that "all-night investigation conducted by MIAA and Etihad through a review of various CCTV footages revealed that the luggage tampering could not have happened at NAIA Terminal 3 but at foreign airports where passenger made stop-overs en route to Manila.
"We expect Etihad Airways to extend immediate assistance to passenger while the investigation continues," the MIAA said.
