With Meralco's announcement that it would reduce for the second month its electricity bills to consumers, it tasked today its linemen (mostly subcontractors) to check on meters including this one (two overhead multiple meters) at a post along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
Meralco was ordered by the Energy Regulatory Commission to refund consumers of overcharged electricity since generation and distribution charges went down, said Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga explained. The overall rate for a typical household will be reduced by P0.2087 this month to P9.5458 per kilowatt-hour from last month’s P9.7545 per kWh.
