With the modified ECQ extended in most of Meralco's concessionaire area until September 7, the company announced that disconnection services will also be suspended until that date.

STRESSING that it remains to be considerate at this time of pandemic, the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has announced it will defer disconnection activities in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) until September 7.

This, as the national government moved to extend the MECQ status over Metro Manila and nearby provinces to that date due to the continued surge in Covid-19 cases.

“In light of the government’s announcement on Saturday morning extending the MECQ placed on the National Capital Region (NCR) and the provinces of Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Lucena City in Quezon from September 1 to 7, 2021, Meralco will likewise suspend disconnection activities in these areas until September 7, 2021,” the company said.

Meralco also encouraged customers to reach out, so the company can discuss and help clarify their concerns, and come up with payment terms, if really needed.

“Meralco remains to be very considerate during this period and vowed to assist customers with their concerns,” it said.

However, other activities such as meter reading, bill delivery, and maintenance activities will still continue "round the clock."
