Meralco secures its first PBA 3x3 leg title.

Meralco Bolts shocked the unbeaten Limitless App to seize their first ever leg title in the PBA 3x3 Conference 2 on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Rallying back from an early deficit, They overcame a dramatic 5-9 deficit and rode their momentum to a 9-0. Alfred Batino and Dexter Maiquez combined for the last 9 points scored by the team for a 17-14 come from behind win.

The Appmasters narrowed the gap to a single possession off a Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser layup, 14-16, but that was the closest they got as Maiquez scored on an easy layup with 48 seconds left.

Maiquez led the scoring department with 6 points and 3 rebounds while Baltino added 5 points, 4 rebounds along with 2 assists. Tonino Gonzaga added five and Joseph Sedurifa had a point to round out the scoring for the newly-crowned leg champion. This Meralco squad is considered to be the most accomplished team in the young history of the PBA 3x3 conference.

Prior to the title match, Limitless App won all of their six games in the conference. This ended their 13-game winning streak dating back to the previous leg last week. Despite being unbeaten in Pool A, Limitless App was stunned by the balanced offense coming from the Bolts. Joey Napoles, who anchored their scoring in this finals game, scored 6 points.

Bolts took home P100,000 as the leg title champions while Limitless App settled for the P50,000 runner-up prize.

In the battle for third place, TNT defeated the San Miguel Beermen, 21-17. Almond Vosotros top scored for 11 points and hit the long 2 that secured the P30,000 purse for the Tropang Giga. Beermen’s Jeff Manday had a game-high 14 points in their losing cause.
