“Me too” as a movement has been snowballing not only in Hollywood but in the local show business as well as an attitude of coming out publicly and telling their shared sordid stories on gross experiences like sexual harassment in workplaces in any industry that has happened a long ago but could associate and relate to the current complaint against someone.
After Sparkle talent Sandro Muhlach came forward to confess that he was sexually assaulted by GMA Network independent contractors Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz, other young male stars shared their common experiences with their so-called sexual abusers or harassers.
First to come out with his story was singer Gerald Santos when he took to the floor of the Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media.
At first, Gerald didn't identify the musical director who sexually harassed him.
"Me too" movement among male stars being sexually abused advances
Later on, Santos had already the courage to reveal that musician Danny Tan was the one who abused him when he was still 15 years old.
"Maluwag na ngayon sa dibdib ko na pinangalanan ko na ang umabuso sa akin (I can now heave a sigh of relief by naming the one who abused me)," said Gerald.
Meanwhile, young actor Aahron Villena had joined the chorus as well among victims of sexual abuse.
This time, he dragged the name of director Joel Lamangan as the one who "abused" him by "fixing" (attaching masking tape in his private part during the shoot of a love scene) or covering his male sex organ after a production creative crew tried out to fix it but allegedly didn’t work.
Could it be a case of sexual abuse as it is customary for an artist or an art director to fix a man or a woman's private parts during love scenes by fastening them with tapes for artistic shots and to avoid unnecessary indecent exposures?
We know Joel couldn’t just take advantage of his actors because he is a disciplined artist.
