Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto -Rubianohas recently opened the Pasay Linear Park which was designed as a place where families and friends can meet, bond, and catch-up with each other.

CONVINCED that one of the best ways to defeat the coronavirus pandemic is through an active, healthy and clean lifestyle, Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto recently opened the Pasay Linear Park in District 2, that would benefit residents of at least three barangays in the city.

Under the program "PASAYahin ang Pasayeños” the Pasay Linear Park was designed as a place where families and friends can meet, bond, and catch-up with each other.

Everyone is welcome at the park especially bikers, fitness enthusiasts, and even pet lovers will be accommodated in the area.

“This linear park will be an avenue for relaxation, enjoyment, and even business opportunities for the residents of Pasay,” she stressed.

The location of the park is along EDSA covering three barangays namely Brgy. 143, 144 and 137, in District ll.

It was created and funded by Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano when she was still a congressional representative.

It will be recalled that to give way for the construction of the park, there were 1,300 families who were relocated to different towns in Cavite, most of them in Trece Martires.

The relocation was in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling in accordance with the Writ of Kalikasan that mandates the regular clean-up of Manila Bay, where the residents were formerly illegally residing.

The said families were grateful for the project and to Mayor Emi for giving them their own houses and for taking care of their welfare during the whole process of relocation.

Small businesses such as food stalls, health and fitness stores and the likes will have a space in this park for the benefit and convenience of the linear park-goers. (SC)
