After making a name as an actress in a series of action, comedy and drama films, particularly in “Mapaglaro” where she was launched as a solo star in the early 1980s, Marissa del Mar has elevated herself to a higher niche in the entertainment industry.

After founding Millicent Productions, an independent company for television which has produced, shown and hosted “Up Close and Personal with Marissa del Mar” for nine years in Channel 13; “Buhay OFW” for eight years in TV5 and “World Class Kababayan” for a couple of years in GMA News TV, all of them championing the causes of Filipino migrant workers, del Mar has finally decided to up her public service ante.

Marissa has just enrolled in a party-list representation with OFW.

“I was exposed to varied problems of our Overseas Filipino Workers when I got to interview and mingle with them so I have a solid background of their plight and achievements which I want to help solve through legislation and to be proud of them as a fellow Filipino,” said Marissa who was dubbed as the quintessential TH Queen.

TH meant Trying Hard but del Mar took it with a grain of salt, was challenged, persevered and hurdled all the intrigues and difficulties in the biz.

As interesting, Marissa denied she would star in her own biopic. When asked whom she thinks would pass the requirement to portray her real life story, Marissa disclosed that she prefers a popular young star to play her history.
