In celebration of Andres Bonifacio day, President Marcos urged Filipinos to adopt qualities like our deceased heroes by being honest and loving their country in order to have a better future for the next generation.
President Marcos today urged Filipinos to be honest and love their country like Andres Bonifacio, during the 159th birth anniversary celebration of the Filipino hero.
This morning, Marcos presided over wreath-laying ceremonies at the Andres Bonifacio National Monument in Caloocan City.
Marcos said it was important that Filipinos remember and treasure the lessons that the country’s heroes impart because these will serve as guides to a “better future”, Inquirer reported.
He took note of how the dead hero fought for the country with love, bravery, and conviction despite the dangers and risks of doing so.
“Hinikayat ko ang aking mga kapwang Pilipino na patuloy na parangalan si Bonifacio at ang lahat ng mga bayaning Pilipino kilala man o hindi na nag-alay ng kanilang buhay upang matiyak ang kalayaan at pagkakakilanlan na siyang pinagmamalaki natin ngayon.” Marcos said.
"It is our responsibility as the next generation of Filipinos to ensure that the spirit of the deceased heroes' aspirations lives on and that the country remains peaceful, free, and prosperous," Marcos said.
The President also urged Filipinos to face adversaries and challenges with patriotism, determination, bravery, and honor.
“Sikapin natin na maging pinakamahusay na uri ng ating mga sarili, na maging Pilipino na ang katapatan at pagmamahal sa bayan ay kaparis ng ating mga bayani tulad ni Gat Andres.” Marcos added.
This is shown by the examples of the country’s modern-day heroes such as medical frontliners, police, military, overseas Filipino workers (OFW), and Filipinos who continue to serve the country.
“Pinapakita nila na ang bawat isa sa atin ay may angking kakayahan na makagawa ng kabutihan sa ating lipunan at pamayanan. Ito ay isa sa mahahalagang pamanang iniwan ni gat Andres sa atin na ang bawat isa ay maaaring maging bayani s ating sariling pamamaraan.” Marcos concluded.
