In a recent address at the 18th National Scout Jamboree, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the pivotal role of scouting in shaping the youth into agents of positive change. With a rich blend of education, adventure, and enjoyment, scouting stands out as a force that motivates young individuals to become active contributors to society.

Reflecting on his own experiences, Marcos expressed joy in participating once again in the jamboree, reminiscent of similar events he attended with his father. He highlighted the significance of jamborees as the cornerstone of scouting activities, reinforcing the enduring importance of the scouting movement in the country.

The 35,000-strong gathering in Passi City, Iloilo, signifies not only the vibrancy of scouting but also its lasting impact. The jamboree, unfolding within the expansive 80-hectare Pintados de Passi Camp, promises a week-long celebration of camaraderie, learning, and adventure, leaving an indelible mark on the participating scouts.

Jacinto Abequibel Jr., the activity director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Council, described the jamboree as a rare and invaluable experience, emphasizing its occurrence only once every four years. For many senior scouts on the brink of entering college, this event marks a unique and unforgettable chapter in their scouting journey.

Emmanuel Acabo, a 10th grader from Christ the King College de Maranding Inc. of Lanao del Norte, shared his anticipation of connecting with scouts from other councils. Beyond the immediate thrill of the jamboree, Acabo highlighted the transformative nature of scouting, shaping his attitude towards helping others through the bonds of brotherhood.

As the 18th National Scout Jamboree unfolds until December 17, it serves not just as a gathering of scouts but as a testament to the enduring legacy of scouting. President Marcos' encouragement to the youth underscores the profound impact scouting can have in fostering leadership, camaraderie, and the joy of learning, setting the stage for a generation of empowered and responsible citizens.
