President Marcos presided over the 3rd Cabinet meeting where the Departments of Education and Social Welfare presented their plans for the year.

At the 3rd Cabinet meeting of the Cabinet this morning, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr discussed plans to improve the services of different departments and offices in the Executive Branch.

Vice President and Secretary of Education Sara Z. Duterte and Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo presented the plans of respective agencies.

Duterte proposed mandatory face-to-face (F2F) classes by November this year. This is because the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the system of education -- from a face-to-face set-up to an online set-up -- where both private and public schools had to prioritize the health of the students and school staff.

This created an immediate adjustment in the education system and a learning loss for the students. Thus, the holding of onsite classes will address the learning gaps issues incurred during the pandemic.

Public and private schools are given the option to do five-day in-person classes, blended modality, or distance learning when classes begin on Aug. 22.

However, schools nationwide have until Oct. 31 to prepare for the mandatory F2F classes which will start on Nov. 2

Meanwhile, for the DSWD, the department plans to fast-track the distribution of assistance through digital means and prioritize the welfare of children especially those in conflict with the law, Tulfo said.
