Do you know that celebrated international fashion designer Michael Cinco is a Waraynon?
Michael is from Catbalogan City and proud of it.
As a matter of fact, when Mike was sitting at the 75th Miss Universe juror seat, he reminisced:
“From watching Miss Universe as a child in Samar to dreaming of dressing the candidates, to now being on the grand stage as a judge—this is proof that no dream is too big. Have faith in GOD…Believe in yourself, work hard, and never give up. IMPALPABLE DREAMS DO COME TRUE…”
“An unforgettable moment judging the Miss UNIVERSE 2024 Finals — where dreams, beauty, and purpose shine on the grandest stage,” he shared in his FB wall.
“What an incredible honor to be part of the Miss Universe 2024 selection committee during the Preliminary Competition here in the vibrant heart of Mexico City. Witnessing beauty, grace, and empowerment on one global stage tonight. Let the journey to the crown begin…Thank you, Miss Universe…for the wonderful experience…”
Those words were written on Michael’s Facebook wall.
Before he became a judge in the prestigious beauty competition internationally, Cinco was a designer of famous people, like, according to Wikipedia, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Carrie Underwood, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ellie Goulding, Nicole Scherzinger, Aishwarya Rai, Fergie Ferguson, Dita Von Teese, Brandy Norwood, Ashanti, Chris Brown, Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell.
In the Philippines, Mike was a hardworking fashion designer in the province and in Manila.
Until he was given breaks to make gowns and wedding dresses for Hollywood celebrities and royal families around the world.
Now, he is someone to reckon with in the global fashion industry.
He is based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and travels from one key city to the other to weave dreams of fabulous garbs for his models and subjects.
Cinco made gowns of Miss Universe winners and other beauty search’s titleholders that is why the Miss Universe Organization didn’t find it hard to assign him as one of the judges in this year’s Miss U edition where his kababayan, Chalsea Manalo was a candidate.
It was in this contest that Mike encountered so many controversies including accusations that he was the culprit in the loss of Chelsea in the game.
“Mababa ang ibinigay ng Michael Cinco na ‘yan kay Chelsea kaya natalo siya. Baka five lang ang score na ibinigay niya (He gave a low grade to her that’s why she lost. He might have just given five points to her),” blamed a netizen who attributed the number five to the Spanish translation of his family name—Cinco).
In an interview with Cinco at Preview Magazine, he said that he gave Manalo a high score to include her in all periods of the eliminations.
This Waraynon had a field day being photographed. “Thank you Miss Universe, Olivia Quido, Annejkn.official (Anne Jakrajutatip, Miss Un owner, Raul Rocha777 for the wonderful experience… Thank you Marce Romero for the beautiful photos… Thank you Angeli Trivino of MUA and Seytuofficial for the make-up and Bong Bong Buan for my hair….Thank you Denis Davila and Mgmode for the great hospitality…,” Mike enumerated the people he was indebted to.
“Thank you, Photoshop…” he said as a clincher.
Cinco was also interviewed by a TV station and what an interview.
“This unforgettable awkward moment when a Telemundo host assumed I was Spanish and spoke to me entirely in Spanish while interviewing me at the Miss Universe red carpet! I was actually waiting for her to translate to English….Thank you, Jessica Carrillo of Telemundo TV, for coming to my rescue…. Ahahahaha (Laughter)…Video by Qrown Ph,” he described.
