The night after my first day of Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) FEST Film Lab on Editing and before the agency's workshop on Auditioning for Film and TV the following day, I was already thinking about veteran actress Madeleine Nicolas, a true-blue native of Calauag. Quezon, a versatile thespian on television, stage, movies and other multimedia work.
If it's Calauag, it is part of the CALABARZON region.
Therefore, we consider Madeleine as a CALABARZON artist.
I've known that Mads (Madeleine's pet name) and colleague and friend Raquel Villavicencio were, however, separately featured in some of Jose Javier Reyes' films.
Since Joey was reinstated Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FDCP, the showbiz world has always been on the go.
Incidentally, the second day of my Film Editing workshop, who would I meet at the lobby of the fourth floor of Seda Hotel in Parañaque City?
No less than Nicolas who was a participant in the Auditioning for TV and Film workshop of the FDCP.
Mads, as usual, was full of life at that moment not only because it was an early morning but because she is always alive as a person.
Nicolas was excited about her participation in the workshop with American casting director for European talents (this time an exposure with Filipino talents would suffice) Nancy Bishop as mentor.
But before going into the room to start her seminar, I was surprised Mads had informed me that three of the staff of the Education Division were our kababayans from Quezon Province.
You see, I am from Lopez.
Mads excitedly gathered all three women and we had fun shooting our group photos.
After the photo-op, Madeleine went inside the room to commence her participation on how to conduct effective auditions for film and television.
