Who would ever forget the business moniker M-7?

In the mid-80s, a major film producer emerged with a promise of contributing a sense of shared uplift to the already highly esteemed Philippine movie industry during its heyday.

M-7 came to the picture and established his movie empire, Cine Suerte Inc. which brought to the public its memorable maiden offering, the award-winning film "Cain at Abel" which starred Christopher de Leon, Mona Lisa, Carmi Martin, Baby Delgado and Phillip Salvador under the helm of now National Artist for Film Lino Brocka.

To give face to his code, maverick producer Ben Yalung revealed to the public he's M-7, the honcho of the movie company.

Ben was called as such to differentiate him from the other prime movers (with successive numbers code) of the production although he was the one on top of them all.

After "Cain at Abel," Ben and Cine Suerte, Inc. came up with succeeding film projects.

Until Yalung eventually ventured into directing, his latest being "Divine Mercy sa Buhay ni Sister Faustina" in 1993.

Ben also directed "Kristo" and other action films.

He's back as a director to do the biopic of the mystical Archbishop Teofilo Camomot of Cebu City.

Actually, Yalung didn't leave the audio-visual industry because he founded Asia Pacific Film Institute (APFI) with now National Artist for Film Marilou Diaz-Abaya in 2005 and still runs it.

He also put up a digital platform ETVN, a studio for religious shows.
