They are slowly being taken away from us, Lagunenses.

Just recently, the epitome of glitz and glam Gloria Romero kicked the bucket no matter her illness was just vertigo.

Then a week ago, an LVN Pictures stalwart passed on.

Delia Razon, Lucy May Grytz Reyes in real life, bid not only showbiz but the whole world adieu.

Delia was introduced in the movie "Krus na Bituin" with Rogelio de la Rosa in 1948.

After her maiden appearance in the LVN project, Razon's star shone even brighter.

She was featured in director Vicente Salumbides' "Florante at Laura," another LVN production in 1949.

She was indeed a darling of the crowd.

Delia was a favorite of the adoring masses for her contagious laughter and friendly persuasion.

After acting in movies and television for almost five decades, the icon mostly just stayed at home in her house in Horseshoe Village in Quezon City.

The last time I went to her residence was when I learned that she was already bedridden.

She was also suffering from Alzheimer's, according to her friends who happened to be mingling and talking with movie reporters who would eventually write about it.

Her granddaughter, actress Carla Abellana would confirm in many interviews with her during launches of her film, TV and advocacy projects that her Lola was indeed suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

It was at nighttime that I boldly went to her house which was standing among the rows of bungalows and posh concrete abodes.

This is Horseshoe Village, an affluent subdivision this side of Quezon City.

There was no one loitering on the streets.

At that time, I was the only one walking down the roads leading to the Reyeses.

When I approached Tita (a term of endearment to an aunt by blood or an older woman by affinity) Delia's house, someone was minding the garbage.

It was Mia, sister of Rea, who was throwing something in the trash can in the backyard.

I called on Mia and introduced myself.

Apologetically, the daughter of Delia said her mom was already asleep.

And yes, she affirmed, her mother had Alzheimer's.

Razon was 94.
