PITX is now accepting drivers’ license registration and renewals while the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Projects finishes another component.
THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) has finished another “vital component” for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project even as it opened a new LTO-licensing center in Parañaque.
The expansion project, which was funded through Official Development Assistance (ODA) from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), adds 4.2 hectares to the existing 6.4-hectare Baclaran Depot.
With more space, the depot now has more rail tracks and can accommodate more trains which will later be used to service more passengers once the project is finished
“Now, the depot’s stabling capacity is 182 from 130 Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) while its heavy and light maintenance capacity is increased to 48 from 30 LRVs,” said DOTr.
More equipment for the depot is expected to arrive in August this year.
Meanwhile, the opening of LTO office at PITX was attended by Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, H. E. Koshikawa Kazuhiko; Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Senior Representative Mr. Kenji Kuronuma, and DOTr Secretary Art Tugade.
The new licensing center offers the following services starting today:
1. Assistance to Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) Portal Registration
2. Issuance of Student Permits
3. New Driver’s License
4. Renewal of Driver’s Licenses
5. Miscellaneous Services
A. Additional Restriction Code/DL Codes
B. Change Classification from Non-Professional DL to Professional DL with Same Restriction Code
C. Change Classification from Non-Professional DL to Professional DL or Professional DL to Non-Professional DL
Next month, the LTO-PITX Licensing Center will start giving priority to OFWs for their Driver’s License Certification or Driver’s License Certification-DFA Apostille.
