Attention commuters, LRT will be conducting upgrade works on three Sundays in November 2021 and January 2022 for upgrade works.
THE Light Rail Transit Line 1 will be closed for three days to complete the necessary works for the upgrade of its existing signaling system.
There will be no LRT1 operations on 28 November 2021, 23 January 2022, and 30 January 2022 to accommodate necessary tests and trial runs, the advisory reads.
In a post by LMC, the line will upgrade to the new Alstom signaling system to accommodate the use of the new 4th generation sets targeted on mid-2022. (see: Faster, sleeker rides! New LRT-1 4th generation trains arrive )
“We would like to request the understanding of our passengers for this temporary inconvenience, and would like to assure them that this will be beneficial in the long run,” said Enrico R. Benipayo, LRMC Chief Operating Officer.
The new trainsets will replace the 1st generation train sets and will feature wheelchair access and spacious accommodation for PWDs.
The commuting public is advised to plan their trips ahead.
