Love Mural Reflects EV's Unique Eco-Diversity

TACLOBAN CITY - In a vibrant celebration of the Philippines' rich biodiversity, the Department of Tourism (DOT) in Eastern Visayas unveiled on Wednesday, September 11, a stunning mural on Magsaysay Boulevard in this Leyte capital city.


Dubbed "Love the Philippines: A Canvas of Biodiversity," the artwork serves as a powerful visual reminder of the Eastern Visayas’ unique biodiversity assets.

The mural, a collaborative effort between the DOT and the Kolor Banwa art group, will represent the region as a vibrant canvas and signifies the harmony between humanity and nature.

It showcases the region's diverse ecosystems, from lush forests to vibrant waters, all rendered in a captivating style showing the famous San Juanico Bridge as well which connects the islands Samar and Leyte.


Creative Passion

"This piece of art stands not only as a testament to the creativity and passion of our local artists but also serves as a powerful reminder of the incredible biodiversity that thrives in our region. It captures the essence of the natural beauty which are so fourtunate to be surrounded by. And most importantly, serves as a call to action for all of us to protect our environment,” said Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez's representative, Malou Tabao, City Tourism Officer.


The event, which was attended by representatives from various government agencies including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), and the University of the Philippines Tacloban, served as a platform to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation and the interconnectedness of all living beings.

Sustainable Eco-Tourism

The "Love the Philippines: A Canvas of Biodiversity" mural is a significant addition to Tacloban City's landscape and a powerful remembrance of the DOT's commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and environmental conservation.


It serves as a reminder that our love for the Creator and His creation should inspire us to become responsible stewards of our planet, ensuring that future generations can experience the beauty of the Earth we live in.
