It’s been a while since we had stories about celebrated music artist, owner of Musik Garten and former Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) president Michelle Nikki Junia, the lady from Tolosa, Leyte.
Today and those lull periods have created wonderful memories for Michelle Nikki.
Here’s a string of texts and images that Nikki has been doing since we last featured here in OpinYon 08.
Service to others has been Junia’s mantra since she ventured into the realm of arts and culture.
No matter how busy she is as long as she can squeeze in the mentoring to anyone interested in the arts, she obliges.
Like when she was requested to do some vocal coaching for the artists of the Broadway musical “Pippin” presented at the Acacia Waldorf School in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
Michelle Nikki was generous in sharing her skills and insights on singing and voila!
She was proud of the results of the production.
In her Facebook wall, Nikki praised the whole creative and technical departments of the stage play. “YOU DID MAGIC,” she exclaimed in bold letters.
“What a brilliant prod,” she added.
“’Pippin’ cast by class Lily in Acacia Waldorf!” she described the production.
“My vocal coaching for the cast may be so short but seeing them perform to that level just made me so proud! Thank you for allowing me to help,” Nikki gushed.
Not only because one of the main performers was her kin but she objectively saw the worth of each performer no matter her affinity to them.
In one Facebook page, Nikki disclosed apparently without bias the talent of her niece Mischa, who was a major character in the musical, was incredible. “Mischa never fails to touch our hearts with her golden voice! I am extremely proud of you! Praise God for your talent! Love you!!!” she quipped.
With two reels posted on her FB, Michelle Nikki poured out her emotions for her niece who sang “I Guess I’ll Miss My Man” and “Love Song” with gusto. “‘I guess I’ll miss the man’” by Mischa made me cry. That voice deserves to be in Broadway—proud tita-teacher here. ’Love song’ from the same musical sang beautifully by my niece Mischa.”
A continuous excellent management and artistic vision make Musik Garten, a music school owned and managed by Nikki, has prevailed for years.
At this time, she had to mount a year-end recital with her on top of the event despite some health issues..
“My post spine surgery recovery will not deter me from praising my Lord and my God through His gift of music! So blessed to worship with my wonderful students Cecilia & Katrina Franceska. Thank you for joining me in the finale no. Of our recital by praising & lifting God—the source of all our talents!” she announced.
Friendship also counts a lot for Nikki who attended the eightieth year of Victory Line recently for her bosom buddy Marivic del Pilar. “It was a VICTORIous 80th Anniversary Celebration for Victory Liner last night! Cheers & God speed! Proud of you @mh_delpilar.”
Nikki never misses out worthwhile productions such as “Dear Evan Hansen” so she graced its showing. She thanked the production “for supporting my love for musicals @sanvic_29 Perfect seats! Such a blessing!”
Of course, as the President of Rotary Club Paseo de Roxas Makati District, Michelle is proud to be part of the organization.
“Celebrating Rotary life,” she said while clasping two plums from the org.
