Thousands of brave youth dared to march the dynastic Romualdez and Petilla streets of Leyte just to lend audience to their hope champion, Leni Robredo.

Running against Leyte's grandson, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., is Vice President Leni Robredo. Marcos Jr. is the son of the deposed late president and the "Rose of Tacloban," former first lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos.

Braving threats of intimidation and harassment, some 10,000 young voters advanced to welcome Leni in the Kadasig: Pinktados grand rally in the Boyscout monument in Palo town.

These students may have just started a fire that could threaten to loosen the grip of the forever-political leaders of the historic province, the Romualdezes and Petillas

Youth Voice

Last Sunday, Kulay Rosas ang Pilipinas (KRP), met with local leaders in Tacloban City to stir a movement that will empower the young and let them be heard in the coming elections of national and local leaders.

The objective is to have a place where muffled voices are gathered to make a noise, said Dave Diwa, one of the convenors of the KRP.

KRP, campaigning for a Leni Robredo – Sara Duterte-Carpio team up in next month’s election, has set up a volunteer center where these students and out-of-school youth could gather and gain confidence to appeal to their parents and elders to consider their future come election day.

Ray Junia, lead convenor and chair of KRP, said these students who braved harassments on the road just to listen to Vice President Leni Robredo last week, encouraged his group to kick off the last two-minutes push for a Leni–Sara victory in the very center of "enemy" territory. The reason they were in Tacloban City.

According to Junia, a native of Tolosa, Leyte, in surveys of universities and colleges in the country, Leni got 85 percent preference from tens of thousands of students surveyed. In leading universities in Metro Manila, Leni got over 90percent preference.

"Students do not see this election as a personality contest. They see this as critical period to choose their future. A wrong choice means bigger problem for the country and ultimately to the families," Junia said, adding "this is a vote for the country and its future."

Also in Leyte, students are asking what the dynastic political families have so far achieved to better the quality of life in Leyte.

Leading the Leyte front, Atty. Buenaventura Go Soco, Jr., Billy Roseno, and Rizalyn Escano have joined to advance the KRP objectives.
