It's long overdue for internationally award-winning Broadway performer Lea Salonga to have her wax statue displayed at the Madame Tussauds Museum in Singapore.
The museum announced in a 32-second video on their social media about the meticulous preparation of the museum team to get her measurements to make her wax figure exactly the same as she was.
"Shining, shimmering, splendid! The legendary Lea Salonga will have her very own wax figure in #MadameTussuadsSG! Are you as excited as we are?" Madame Tussauds Singapore wrote on their social media account.
Salonga is a renowned Filipina Broadway superstar and a recipient of the prestigious Tony Award for her role in Miss Saigon, along with other international recognitions from Olivier, Drama Desk, the Outer Critics Circle, and the Theatre World Awards, among others.
She also became the first Asian to play a role in the musical Les Misérables and became the voice of several Disney princesses, including Jasmine for Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan.
Salonga is also a recipient of Time Magazine's Time 100 Impact Award.
The announcement delighted many Filipinos, celebrating another milestone of putting a Filipino in the international limelight.
Among the Filipinos who were also "immortalized" through wax figures at the Madame Tussauds include Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 208, Catriona Gray, actress and multimedia star Anne Curtis, and Boxing World Champion turned politician Manny Pacquiao.
