Gastronomists and food enthusiasts in Laguna province recently got a taste of the province’s rich culinary heritage at the recently-concluded Laguna Food & Heritage Festival in Santa Cruz.

The Laguna Food & Heritage Festival is an annual event hosted by Ted’s Kitchen, led by chef siblings Day Salonga and Gel Salonga-Datu.

Since it was started in 2017, the event – aptly entitled "Sa Pantalan 4, Biyaheng Pangkatagalugan” is now widely considered as one of the premiere culinary and cultural activities in the province.

Among other events, the Laguna Food & Heritage Festival hosted local culinary entrepreneurs, organic food growers, eminent artists and craftsmen, tourism officers and government officials.

There were booths for local food manufacturers, for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, visual artists with their works, artisans with their unique craft, farmers with home grown vegetables, and for intrepid cooks with their delicious food for everyone to taste.

Dress designers were also invited, bringing along their trendy masterpieces, while authors of heritage books were also there with their published works.

Lectures were given on Community Vegetable Farming, Cultivating Microgreens for household food security, Importance of Soybean in Food Sustainability, Sustainable Food and Community Cooking, Food, Culture and Tourism, History and Food Culture, Faith and Food, Calamansi and Nata de Coco-Continuing Traditional Delicacies, and Heirloom Rice Varieties.

Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez graced the event, affirming the provincial government’s support for initiatives to expand opportunities for tourism in Laguna province.
