As part of its commitment to delivering clean, safe water to Lagunense children, Laguna Water led the turnover of facilities providing potable water to schools in the province last Wednesday, April 23.

In a simple ceremony held at the Laguna Water headquarters in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, officials of Laguna Water, along with the provincial government of Laguna and the Manila Water Foundation, turned over refrigerated water fountains and hand hygiene facilities to a total of 15 public elementary and high schools in the province.

Laguna Water General Manager Constantine Uy graced the activity, along with Laguna Provincial Administrator Atty. Dulce Rebanal and Manila Water Foundation Executive Director Reginald Andal.

During the event, Laguna Water turned over water fountains to the Pagsanjan Integrated National High School and Unson National High School in Pagsanjan; Casinsin Elementary School and Kabulusan Integrated National High School in Pakil; Governor F. T. San Luis Integrated High School in Santa Cruz; Southville 4 National High School in Santa Rosa City; and Malaban East Elementary School, Dela Paz Main Elementary School, San Francisco Elementary School and Sto. Tomas Elementary School in Biñan City.

On the other hand, Labas Elementary School and Jose Zavalla Elementary School in Santa Rosa City; the Pagsanjan Senior High School in Pagsanjan; and the Laguna Sports Complex and Laguna University in Santa Cruz received hand hygiene facilities.

The turnover represents the accomplishment of an agreement that was signed between the three parties last November 27, 2024, under the “Lingap Laguna” project.

Under the agreement, Laguna Water will donate hand-hygiene facilities and refrigerated drinking fountains in schools and other public areas in its concession area.

Aside from donating the facilities, Laguna Water will also provide for the maintenance of these facilities, including changing the water filters every three months.

"Lingap Laguna embodies our enduring commitment to deliver world-class services tailored to the needs of our community. This project, in close partnership with the provincial government of Laguna and Manila Water Foundation, is a testament to the power of collaboration in addressing fundamental needs,” Laguna Water General Manager Uy said in his speech during the event.

"This initiative aims to empower communities, promote well-being and contribute to a more sustainable environment for all," he added.

Provincial Administrator Rebanal, who is also the chairperson of the Board of Directors of Laguna Water, conveyed the "heartfelt gratitude" of the provincial government of Laguna under Governor Ramil Hernandez, as well as the beneficiaries of the project, to their private-sector partners for the "Lingap Laguna" initiative.

"The handwashing facilities and the refrigerated drinking fountains are symbols of our shared responsibility to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our children," Rebanal emphasized.

Laguna Water, one of the largest water service providers in the province, is a joint venture between the provincial government of Laguna and the Ayala-led Manila Water Philippine Ventures.

It serves communities and businesses in the cities of Biñan, Santa Rosa, and Cabuyao and the municipality of Pagsanjan, as well as parts of Calamba City, San Pablo City, and the towns of Alaminos, Sta. Cruz, Pila, Pakil and Victoria.
