As part of its efforts to ensure sustainable water management, Laguna Water has partnered with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP)–Laguna Council for its environmental protection programs.

This partnership, according to Laguna Water Regulatory Affairs Head Lheizel De Jesus, aims to instill lifelong learning and love for nature among the youth.

A memorandum of agreement was signed between BSP OIC - Council Scout Executive Benito Casas and Chairman for Advancement Gerry Monteza during BSP’s National Court of Honor ceremony, which recognizes outstanding scouts from various cities and municipalities in Laguna.

Laguna Water said that central to the collaboration is the program Pasibol, or the tree-nurturing initiative, where scouts will help plant, monitor, and maintain trees in identified sites.

The young scout volunteers will also assist in site preparation and participate in future environmental learning activities.

“Our partnership with BSP is a testament to our commitment to contribute to the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals. The scouts’ participation in Pasibol will improve the monitoring of the trees we planted and in ensuring their survival,” De Jesus said.

“On the other hand, we are hopeful that the volunteer opportunities that we provide will serve as learning opportunities for the holistic development of our scouts,” she added.

Aside from involving scouts in its environmental activities, Laguna Water will also act as a technical resource partner of BSP–Laguna Council in programs related to water stewardship and community development.
