"May I.D. na ba kayo?"
Maybe that is one question the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) should be asking to over 2.7 million Lagunenses who have already registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
This, after PSA statisticians reported that the province ranked fourth among the five provinces in Calabarzon in terms of PhilSys registration.
A "preliminary count" released by PSA revealed that a total of 2,722,663 Lagunenses have already registered with PhilSys as of December 15, 2025.
This is equivalent to 73 percent of the province's 3,687,345 population (according to the 2024 census).
Cavite province topped the list with 3,503,633 PhilSys registrants, followed by Rizal (2,938,672 registrants), Batangas (2,729,112 registrants), and Quezon (1,931,698 registrants).
“We attribute the steady increase in registrations to the expanded availability of national ID services through fixed and mobile registration centers across Calabarzon,” PSA Regional Director Charito Armonia was quoted as saying.
Armonia also reaffirmed PSA’s commitment to ensuring inclusive identification and improving service delivery by bringing National ID registration and related services closer to the public.
The National ID is widely recognized as a valid proof of identity and facilitates access to government services, social protection programs, and financial transactions.
The PSA continues to encourage unregistered residents in the region to register at the nearest PSA offices, malls, and partner local government units.
Registered individuals are also reminded that updating or correcting demographic information in the National ID System is free of charge at select registration centers.
