The Lady Macbeth Riots stood victorious in the inaugural Manila Hustle 3x3-Philippine Women’s 3x3 International Invitational after heading in an All-Filipino showdown against the Army Altama at the Robinsons Magnolia Atrium in Quezon City.
Tallying a final score of 21-11, the Lady Macbeth behind the heroic eventual finals MVP and reigning UAAP Rookie of the Year, Kacey Dela Rosa, a late addition to the team following the signing of Jack Animam with a French basketball team had to leave the country.
Helping Dela Rosa with the first place finish were Janine Pontejos, who shot timely two point shots down the stretch for six points, Khate Castillo, who also put in six points, and Trina Guytingco under the helm of Gilas Pilipinas tactician Pat Aquino, to exact revenge from their first game against the Army after going down 17-16, reported Spin.ph.
Meanwhile, the Army paraded a formidable squad of Nathalia Prado who contributed seven points, Soc Borja, tallying two points, together with Chack Cabinbin and Camille Sambile adding one point a piece, good enough for a silver finish.
According to Dugout.ph, the Lady Macbeth received a cash prize of $3,000, estimated at Php 161,000, for the two-day international 3x3 tournament.
Taking home the bronze and denying the Philippines from sweeping the podium was 1Eyehansol from Korea with a 21-12 victory over Discovery Perlas, composed of ex-national team players Allana Lim and Raiza Palmera-Dy with Hazelle Yam and Chinese player Xiaojing Zheng led by coach Haydee Ong.
Teams completing the roster of the two-day tournament, which also includes a two-point competition and a dunk contest, are Uratex Dream, Uratex Tibay, South Korea's G2L2, Thailand's Shoot It Dragons, Japan's OWLS.EXE, Singapore's Jumpshot and the Philippines' own Angelis Resort.
