August being the Language Month brings a lot not only of superstitions and memories but cultural awareness as well.

Many people believe that August is a ghost month and therefore not a conducive season and environment for any pursuit in business and other areas for the enhancement of life.

Happy and sad memories also crop up at this time of the year.

It is quite apt to say that it isn't only paying language a homage at this point as everyday is communication day in any spoken language.

In the Philippines which has hundreds of regional dialects, the most important thing to do is let these languages flourish to achieve national growth and development.

There is indeed unity in diversity.

Dr. Arthur P. Casanova, Chairman of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), just subscribes to the tenet.

"There are many languages in the Philippines but they are all Filipino," exclaimed Casanova.

Filipino, said Arthur is not purely the Tagalog derivative but it is the mother of all dialects in the country.

"In this year's celebration of the National Language Month, let us not only celebrate Filipino but all the languages throughout the year. It is just fitting to salute Filipino as the medium of communication to succeed in all our endeavors because language is the key to better understanding and collective action in all areas of society," gushed the Chair of KWF.
