Several airports in Luzon and Visayas have experienced disruptions in operations because of bad weather brought about by Tropical Storm Kristine, the Civil Aviation authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Tuesday, October 22.
The aviation regulating body has issued updates on the current situations at airports and weather conditions in the impacted areas as of 6:00 a.m.
The Bicol International Airport (BIA) is currently under tropical storm signal No. 1, leading to light rain and light to moderate winds in the region.
"As of this report, no flight cancellations have been recorded," the CAAP said.
Tacloban Airport has been experiencing continuous rainfall accompanied by moderate to heavy winds since Monday night. Reports indicate that the city is currently facing a blackout.
Flight operations have been suspended at Calbayog Airport in Samar, while scheduled flights at Catarman Airport in Northern Samar have been canceled
The weather at Masbate Airport has been characterized by moderate to heavy rainfall, with light to moderate winds that have decreased visibility to one kilometer.
As a result, commercial flights have been canceled, which affected the departing and arriving passengers of Cebgo Airlines.
Virac Airport has experienced moderate to heavy rainfall with light to moderate winds. According to CAAP, there have been no announcements yet from Cebu Pacific regarding flight cancellations.
CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo has reminded all Area Center Managers of the strict enforcement of the ban on light aircraft operations during inclement weather to ensure safety.
