After three years of being reclusive in the United States of America for the treatment of her autoimmune diseases and an unceremonious homecoming last year, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino made her first public appearance during the awarding of the Stargate People Asia People of the Year at the Power Mac Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Makati City early last week.
Kris went to the event to pay homage and share the honors with his friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva who was one of the awardees.
In an interview, Aquino said that she couldn't just let go of the opportunity of supporting and congratulating Michael for his award.
She added that the fashion designer can be trusted anytime.
“There are people who would say ‘I’ll be there for you,’ or ‘Maaasahan mo ako (You can count on me’). but Michael has proven so many times, and in so many ways,” said the actress who is dubbed as Queen of All Media.
People from all over the Philippines—from Aparri to Jolo, from Cagayan to Laguna or even abroad were excited to see the TV host-actress appearing in public.
Lagunenses like ineng Telebrico Litao, a resident of Sto. Nino Subdivision and Estrella Gualberto Salcedo Inandan, a bona fide citizen of Barangay Pacita 2, were glued to the internet and free TV to watch the historic first public appearance of Kris.
"Grabe. Nakakagulat si Kris. Kung anu-ano nang ibinabato sa kanya pero matatag pa rin siya (Oh, how fantastic. Kris is really surprising. Imagine, she has been thrown a lot of nasty comments but she's still steadfast," Ineng quipped.
"D'yan ka talaga bibilib kay Kris. Hanga talaga ako sa kanya (I take off my hats to her. I really adore her)," said Estrella.
Although Aquino has had her first public appearance, her health isn't as cooperative as it used to be during her stable condition three years ago.
"Nahihilo ako (I am getting dizzy)," she disclosed to GMA Network's entertainment broadcast reporter Aubrey Carampel during the occasion.
Despite the hassles, there's no feedback that Kris didn't feel well after the event.
