It was a show of strength and conviction.
The public reappearance of Queen of All Multi Kris Aquino after three long years in a crowded space recently, that is.
Kris showed up at the 2025 People Asia People of the Year Awards at the Power Mac Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Makati City to witness and support the awarding of Stargate People Asia to her best friend, fashion designer Michael Leyva.
Aquino just decided on instinct to go and share the victory with her friend despite the congregation of diverse people at the venue that, God forbid, anyone could contaminate viral infection even at this time of loosened health protocols for the COVID-19 pandemic.
No one is spared of the virus as we were aware of it during the height of the pandemic.
Even Kris, who is still vulnerable as she is under medication for her autoimmune diseases, could be a victim.
So, she wore the precautionary measure of a face mask albeit social distancing.
The actress was with her youngest son Bimby who was at her beck and call, hand guiding her during the event from preparation at home to riding and getting off the car to walking inside the hall and back to their residence.
Kris’ face mask was colored yellow as with her inner garb to signify the shade of protest against bad governance and autocratic rule.
Meanwhile, her blazer was flaming red and her pink skirt was a floor length floral designed apparel.
The awarding coincided with the 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution which was participated in by Kris’ mom Cory Aquino who helped carry out the protracted yellow ribbon revolt especially after her husband—and Kris’ father Ninoy Aquino, an opposition to the Marcos dictatorship—was assassinated on his return to the country at the tarmac of the Manila International Airport on August 21, 1983.
According to Kris, she suddenly remembered that the People Asia occasion was on the twenty fifth of February, 2025—the commemoration of the last day of the EDSA uprising—after she thought it was only the twenty fourth of the month.
The Aquino scion said it was timely that her first public appearance after three years of hiatus fell on the celebration of EDSA.
There was more to it, though, than meets the eye.
It was Kris' real health score.
Her make-up artist RB Chanco was the rightful eyewitness to the true health situation of the TV host in doing her facial style again.
In RB’s Instagram, everything was laid bare: “After three years, I finally got to do her makeup again—something I had hoped for but feared might never happen. But last night, it did, and I couldn’t have been happier,” Chanco initially said.
Then the posts revealed another disturbing truth about Ninoy and Cory’s youngest child. “Kris is still very sick—frail, fragile, and fighting every day—which made every makeup product and brushstroke feel like a risk. With her severe allergies and flares, I was terrified she’d react, especially since she hasn’t worn makeup since her health declined. But by some miracle, her reaction was minimal, and that alone was a huge relief,” RB noted.
The stylist described Kris’ guesting in the People Asia awarding as significant. “Her appearance was brief but deeply meaningful—a sign that she’s still here, still fighting, still moving forward.
“Despite everything, she made her first public appearance since becoming very ill. The real queen, the Kris we all love and miss, is still here—stronger than we know. And maybe, just maybe, this is the start of something more.”
Chanco is optimistic she will do Aquino again and again.
“Finally, #RBeautified…again, and hopefully, just the first of many more times to come.”
